Brief History and Mission Statement

Keyon farms started operations in September 2021 in one modern poultry house with one batch (batch I) of chickens, and a total of about 6 employees. Keyon Farms had the vision to make quality chicken meat affordable to all, so that more people could have access to diets with a healthy protein content. We started with a small-scale operation, focusing on raising broiler chicken for meat. Due to high demand for chicken meat, Keyon farms saw a rapid expansion in the first halve of 2022 although, it was still at the investment phase. We increased our modern poultry houses from 1 to 3, increased employees from about 6 to about 18 employees. Keyon farms also purchased a 2-ton cold truck for chicken meat transportation. Correspondingly, we started raising three batches of chicken simultaneously in our 3 modern houses with a combine capacity to produce 15 tons of chicken meat in one month. From 2021 to present (February 2023), Keyon farms has reared 15 batches of chicken with each batch having at least 2500 chicks and at most 5500 chicks. During this time, Keyon farms has been keen to continuously innovate to increase efficiency and predictability in chicken meat production. With a commitment to self-sufficiency, Keyon farms gradually expanded its operations to include a feed mill that produces mash, crumbled and pelleted feed. We invested in the necessary equipment and infrastructure to produce own feed, sourcing locally available grains and other ingredients. Keyon farms also created its own mathematical algorithm and computer software used to determine optimal proportions of feed ingredients. Progressively, Keyon farms kept evolving and adjusting to the unstable chicken meat market.

Keyon farms grew and gained a reputation for its quality chicken meat amidst a challenging chicken meat market. Keyon farms then identified an opportunity to diversify their business. We observed a rising demand for eggs and recognized the potential of layer farming. Consequently, the decision was made to add layer hens.

The addition of layer hens involved investing in additional infrastructure, including cages and automatic watering system. The farm acquired high quality layer chicks and continued with batch (16) while focusing on providing optimal conditions for egg production, ensuring proper nutrition, lighting, and ventilation.

With successful layer farming operations in place, we saw further potential for expansion and diversification. Understanding the value-added aspect of the market, we decided to establish a sausage making factory on the keyon farms’ Premises.

To realize this vision, we invested in modern sausage manufacturing equipment and hired skilled personnel with expertise in sausage production. We source high-quality meat from our own farm and supplement it with ingredients like herbs, spices and other flavors to create a range of delicious chicken sausages.

The integration of the sausage making factory allowed us to capitalize on the demand for value-added meat products, expanding our offerings beyond eggs and chicken sausage to pork sausages. This enabled us to tap into new markets and distribution channels.

Today, keyon farms stands as a successful poultry enterprise with a rich history of evolution and diversification. From its origin as a broiler farm producing its own feed, it has expanded into a thriving layer farm and sausage making factory, serving the need of customers with high-quality eggs and flavorful chicken and pork sausages. Keyon farm’s commitment to self-sufficiency, quality, and innovation has been pivotal in its growth and sustainability in the competitive poultry industry.
